X ROID IS COMING HOME.

After travelling from Cologne to Bonn, Vienna and Basel, X roid returns to the city where it all began.

What began as a single exhibition has since grown into an international instant art festival. Since 2021, The Stage Gallery has been X roid’s home — first in Cologne, then in Bonn, and now back in Cologne.

X roid celebrates what makes instant photography so special.

From the first InstantCologne in 2019 to the X roid editions in Cologne, Bonn, Vienna and Basel, the festival has brought together artists from around the world and created a growing platform for instant photography and contemporary instant art.

X roid Cologne 2027 will take place at The Stage Gallery’s new Cologne location.

The exhibition will be juried and curated by The Stage Gallery, with professional handling and presentation of all selected works.

Participation

The “X roid Cologne 2027“ will run from the 21st to 23rd of May, 2027 at The Stage Gallery in Cologne.

  1. Only original instant photographs are eligible. No prints. Accepted formats include SX-70, 600, Spectra, Packfilm, Square, Wide and Mini. Polaroid, Polaroid Originals, Impossible Project and Fuji Instax are welcome.
  2. Up to 4 Polaroids (SX 70/600/Packfilm) OR max. 2 Polaroids (8by10 inch) per exhibition space.
  3. Participation fee includes free framing of your work. We will frame your work. If you want to use your own frames, please contact us for details!
  4. Venue: The Stage Gallery Cologne
  5. EARLY BIRD — €170 incl. VAT for 1 exhibition space until October 18th, 2026
  6. REGULAR — €220 incl. VAT for 1 exhibition space  from October 19th, 2026
  7. NO SALES COMMISSION. YOU KEEP 100% OF YOUR SALES.
  8. Artists may book multiple exhibition spaces.
  9. Return shipping of exhibited works is not included and must be covered by the artist.

  8. All the photos you want to exhibit (each image file must be RGB, JPG format, 1000px the longest side at 72 dpi)
  9. The file names must be as follows: lastname-firstname-01.jpg, lastname-firstname-02.jpg… etc.

Please note: By applying, you agree to participate if your application is accepted. Acceptance creates a binding commitment to participate, and the participation fee becomes due upon acceptance. The fee remains payable even if you subsequently cancel your participation. Participation fees are non-refundable.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. You are the only copyright owner and creator of the photographs.
  2. The photographs do not infringe upon the copyrights or any other intellectual property rights of any third person or entity, or violate any person’s rights of privacy, does not include trademarks owned by third parties or violate any other law.
  3. Each person depicted in the photograph has granted permission to you.
  4. All entrants agree to fully indemnify The Stage Gallery in respect of all royalties, fees and any other financial debt to any person by reason of your breaching any of the foregoing.
  5. The royalties of the Works are not bestowed to The Stage Gallery at any time. The copyright of the Works remains in the creators and in them alone.
  6. The copyright of the Works during and after the exhibition remains with the Artist.
  7. All photographs used by The Stage Gallery will clearly have the photographer’s credit. In case this has been overseen, there will be immediate corrections when mentioned.
  8. All entrants agree that all photographs submitted to the The Stage Gallery may be used to promote and advertise The Stage Gallery / X roid.
  9. Artists grant The Stage Gallery the right to use their images to promote the exhibition, for display on The Stage Gallery / X roid webpage and for inclusion in an exhibit catalog.
  10. The Stage Gallery may use all entries submitted for marketing & promotional purposes across all media though there will not be any monetary compensation.
  11. The jury’s decision on acceptance/rejection of the works cannot be appealed. Appeals by artists against these decisions are excluded. There is no obligation to give reasons for decisions of The Stage Gallery on acceptance/rejection of works. The presentation of the works is the responsibility of The Stage Gallery, whose decision is final.
  12. The artist is responsible for the punctual/timely delivery and collection of his/her artwork. The Stage Gallery will not cover any costs for transport and possible fees for import or customs.
  13. Entry in the X roid obliges the participant to take part. A refund of the participation fee is excluded.
  14. The artwork is not insured against damage and theft during the exhibition!
  15. By registering, the participant accepts the exhibition conditions. The place of performance and jurisdiction for all services and obligations relating to the exhibition of „The Stage Gallery“ is Cologne.

I have read and agree to all the rules and regulations of this agreement by applying to the “X roid Cologne 2027“.
