Dear art lovers,

Climate change affects lives, livelihoods, and human wellbeing around the world in complex and deeply interconnected ways. Evidence plays a key role for addressing these risks through holistic, inclusive, intersectional, and impactful approaches.

To share experiences from frontline communities parallel to the 58th Sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (“Bonn Climate Change Conference 2023”), SLYCAN Trust is hosting a photography exhibition building on partnerships with the Government of Ghana, the Government of Maldives, and the Government of Uganda in collaboration with The Stage Gallery.

SLYCAN Trust hereby has the pleasure of cordially inviting you to the vernissage of this exhibition, which will take place as an evening reception on June 6th, 2023, from 6.00 pm onwards at The Stage Gallery, Thomas-Mann-Str. 41, 53111 Bonn.

The exhibition documents how climate change impacts people in countries across Africa and Asia: not only economically, but also culturally. Beyond storms, droughts, and floods, it also highlights the long-term impacts on livelihoods and ecosystems as well as loss of culture, heritage, and traditional ways of life. Photographs between documentation and art offer impressions of climate impacts and approaches to solutions from countries of the Global South such as Ghana, Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Uganda.
